Domaine L’Ostal Cazes Ostalon 2008, Minervois
A spicy blend of syrah, carignan and grenache, I don’t mind if I do.
Especially now the evenings are getting chilly and the desire to feast on hearty casserole becomes overwhelming.
That blend of red grapes is often associated with the southern Rhône but the same varieties do well in the Languedoc too; which is where Domaine L’Ostal Cazes Ostalon 2008 hails from. The Minervois appellation to be precise.

It is smooth and well balanced, mature wine, with peppery spices, notes of anise, well integrated oak and dense, ripe black fruit flavours.
I’m not always persuaded by supermarket offers but at its current promotional price of £5.99, the Co-op are giving this one away.
