Work to upgrade York’s gas network will affect a main York road from today (Tuesday, 30 May).
Restrictions on Lord Mayor’s Walk will affect road users for three weeks, until 18 June.
Today, parking restrictions are introduced. Motorists will need to park elsewhere during this time.
Those with parking permits for Lord Mayor’s Walk will be allowed to use Monk Bar car park free of charge.
The inbound lane on Lord Mayor’s Walk will be closed from Monday 12 June to Sunday 18 June and diversion routes will be in place.
Penley’s Grove Street will be reopened as part of the diversion route for light vehicles only.
The disruption is to allow Northern Gas Networks to replace ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes, “to ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers now, while getting the network ready to transport alternative greener fuels in the future”.
