A motorcyclist suffered life-changing injuries in a crash that closed the A64 this afternoon (Friday).
A van and a motorbike collided close to the Aagrah restaurant on the westbound carriageway near Tadcaster at around 12.40pm.
The road was completely closed from Bilbrough Top to allow the air ambulance to land.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Tadcaster and Acomb attended a road traffic collision involving a van and a motorcycle.
“The male on the motorcycle was taken to hospital with life changing injuries. Crews used oxygen and assisted with casualty movement.”
The westbound carriageway remained shut for several hours. It lead to long queues of traffic before the road fully reopened around 5pm.
