Three men arrested and weapons recovered after armed police operation in York
Armed police were called to the Groves in York this morning and made three arrests.
They were responding to a member of the public who reported suspicious behaviour on Lowther Street at 9.21am today (Monday).
Officers from the Firearms Support Unit were alerted to the location to search for the suspects.
They arrested three local men, aged 47, 42 and 37, on Neville Street at 9.47am, on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons in a public place.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The men are being held in custody for questioning.
“A police dog unit also attended and two offensive weapons were recovered on Eldon Street. The items in question are not firearms.”
