Three jazz greats in one York venue
Over the next few weeks the NCEM will welcomes jazz greats – Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw and John Etheridge.

Liane and Ian will feature in the first of the new Sunday afternoon jazz concerts, making a perfect Father’s Day treat!
These extraordinarily talented singer/songwriters and piano players, have won a multitude of British Jazz Awards and between them bring personality, musical class and incorrigible wit to a repertoire that covers the jazz songbook, contemporary songs as well as their own originals.
Their version of Carole King’s You’ve Got A Friend has been performed as the closing number in shows from London and Warsaw to Glasgow and Barbados.
Both also have fantastic newly released Ds – Seaside (Liane) and The Theory of Joy (Ian). Liane will also be taking part in a late night Prom on August 5 with the National Jazz Youth Orchestra!

You can find out more about the legendary John Etheridge and association with Stephane Grappelli, John Williams and Yehudi Menuhin and Nigel Kennedy, in a pre-concert chat with the NCEM’s Director Delma Tomlin at 7pm on Friday, July 1.
John will then be joined by sensational new vocal star Vimala Rowe to play music from their newly released CD Out of the Sky.
Vimala has been gaining plaudits wherever she goes and featured recently in Paco Pena’s Flamencura at Sadlers Wells and has made a study of Indian classical singing as well as having worked for years in the Far East.
John will also feature music from his celebrated show, which he has been touring across Europe for ten years.
