Three men were arrested after being spotted doing a suspected drug deal before leading police on a high-speed chase through York.
Officers in York identified a vehicle involved in a suspected drug deal in York yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
It failed to stop when requested.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This sparked a pursuit, during which a passenger fled from the vehicle but was quickly apprehended by officers.
“The vehicle continued at speed, attempting to evade our presence, but our officers were hot on its heels and continued with the pursuit.
“The driver eventually stopped outside the York Outer Ring Road, where they were detained.”
Both class A and class B drugs, scales, cash, and drug paraphernalia were recovered from inside the car.
Three men have been arrested:
- a 35-year-old man from York was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs;
- a 33-year-old man from Bromsgrove was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop; driving over the drug-drive limit; dangerous driving; and possession with intent to supply
- and a 36-year-old man from Grimsby was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs.
They have been released on bail while the investigation continues.
The spokesperson added: “Removing harmful drugs from our communities and disrupting those involved in criminality remains one of North Yorkshire Police’s top priorities.
“We encourage anyone with information about suspected crime in their area to come forward.
“Even the smallest piece of information can be vital in building a clearer picture and aiding our investigations.”
