Most great gigs are hot and sweaty. But there’s warm – and there’s too warm…
Top York music venue the Fulford Arms has wanted to put in air conditioning for some time but has never been able to afford it.
Until now. Charity the Music Venue Trust has awarded a grant to the Fulford Arms of £2,850 to pay for a new air con unit.
The money comes from the trust’s pipeline investment fund.
In a statement, the Fulford Arms, found on Fulford Road, said: “It’s been clear for many years that the Fulford Arms would benefit from air con. On busy nights the gig room gets hot very quickly. But it’s an expense we’ve never been able to justify.
“The air con will help massively in making customers and performers more comfortable in the venue, encouraging people to stay inside the venue between bands, reducing the risk of noise complaints and driving more wet sales.”
The Music Venue Trust fund prioritises support for organisations who may have been excluded from other available funding. It was open to all venue operators and organisations that meet any of the three definitions of a Grassroots Music Space, which can be found here.
It is still actively seeking further donations, particularly from the wider music industry – contact [email protected] to find out more.
