Footie fans were delighted to see one of the legends of sports broadcasting in York yesterday (Tuesday).
Former Leeds United and Bradford City player Chris Kamara was in town to visit the team at Brew York on Walmgate.
Chris, who delighted supporters with his unique football reports on Sky Sports for 24 years, met with the brewery’s founders, Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham.
Brew York posted on the socials: “Yesterday, we were honoured to welcome the legendary Chris Kamara to Brew York to discuss an exciting new project!”
We asked if they could tell us any more, and a spokesperson for the company said: “We hosted the Kamara team for a brewery tour and a tutored tasting of our range to discuss the potential for a collaborative charity beer… watch this space!”
Brew York is well known for creating brilliant beers with fabulous star names, such as Juice Forsyth, Rhubarbara Streisand and Dame Judi Quench.
Which got fans speculating on the name of any brew associated with Chris.
His catchphrase when talking to the host of Soccer Saturday, Jeff Stelling, was “Unbelievable, Jeff!”
That led to Ross Fraser on Twitter/X suggesting that any new beer be called ‘Unbeerlievable’.
Others suggested ‘Kamara Chameleon’ in homage to another Brew York beer, Calmer Chameleon.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
