A plan to open a bar in a former farm shop has divided opinion.
YorkMix revealed last month that the Lodge Cottage Farm Shop would become a bar specialising in craft beer if plans get the green light.
It’s based on Broadway in Fulford.
The application has drawn some criticism from residents living nearby. At the time of writing, 23 objections have been lodged.
But others in the area are backing the idea, with 12 comments in favour.
Complaints cite the potential noise, particularly from the beer garden, and the impact on crime levels and parking.
“Although a craft beer outlet for Fulford seems a great idea, I am afraid the locality of such has not been thought through,” one resident writes.
“The local context is extremely important with applications of this nature – this is not a suitable location for a bar.

“The residents of the adjacent flats have openable windows on the side elevation overlooking the beer garden; there is family housing to the rear off Danum Road.”
The owner of a building that backs onto what would become the beer garden said they were worried about noise levels and parking.
And a different neighbour says “a drinking venue will be detrimental to the character and safety of the local area”.
“Police are already a frequent presence in the Broadway area with high numbers of anti-social behaviour and public order. A drinking establishment will surely increase this even further,” an objector writes.
Others, though, back the bar. One says: “This business sounds like a great addition to the local area and I’m looking forward to trying the craft beer.
“We don’t have this kind of offering in the immediate area so I think it’ll be an asset.”

A planning statement from Brewhemian Hopsody, the company behind the plans, explained the nature of the new bar.
“Katie and Amanda are the owners of this small independent business and are
passionate about quality in everything we do, especially when it comes to beer and service.
“We want to create a space for local people to enjoy themselves without the
need for travelling into the city centre. We want to get to know our neighbours and provide a service for local people.
“The emphasis will be on quality, education, and appreciation of the brewing craft
rather than excessive consumption.
“Our establishment will provide a relaxed atmosphere, designed for patrons who seek to enjoy expertly crafted beverages in a comfortable and social environment.”
