A thief was arrested after being spotted helping himself to goods in a York store.
They were detained yesterday (Monday) after being spotted by a police officer.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A prolific shop thief is currently in one of our cells pondering the error of his ways.
“He was busily filling his rucksack with stolen items in store, when our retail crime officer came in on a routine shop visit.
“Please don’t steal, it’s a criminal offence. We patrol our stores regularly and those offenders that we miss in person we often pick up from CCTV later.”
