The YorkMix Hero Awards are back for 2023 . Once again we’ve teamed up with Yorkshire Profiles to give you the chance to thank someone who makes life better where you live.
This year we’ll be recognising our heroes in a lavish award ceremony at York Racecourse on October 26th.
We’re now asking you to nominate someone you know in one of our Hero Award categories. A panel of judges will then meet and shortlisted finalists will be announced later on this year.

The New Business of the Year Award

The Environmental Hero Award

For a business startup which has made a real difference in its first two years of trading.
The Outstanding Bravery Award
with White Rose Finance
For someone who has demonstrated or continues to demonstrate incredible acts of bravery.
The Educator of the Year Award
with York Sport
For a teacher, class room assistant, nursery keyworker or anyone else who goes above and beyond to help educate, and support, others.
The Incredible Child Award
with The Fancy Dance Shop
For a child who has achieved something beyond their years or made a difference in their community.
The “In The Face of Adversity” Award
For someone who has fallen on hard times, faced illness or other hardship yet has beaten the odds and become a shining example to others.
The Outstanding Talent Award
with Craybakes
For a person of any age who has an outstanding talent in any field.
The Charity Fundraiser of the Year Award
with Middletons York
For someone who, rain or shine, gives their time to ensuring the financial needs of a charity are met.
The Neighbour of the Year Award
With Hayley Owen
For an incredible person who helps or gives their time to the benefit of everyone else within their immediate local area.
The Parent or Guardian of the Year Award
For a person who truly is a cut above the rest, who makes every day special and is always there to help.
The Ultimate Hero Award
This award will be open for voting the night of the awards ceremony.
Terms and Conditions
- Entries must be received by Friday 6th 2023 at 23:59:00
- Shortlisted finalists will be selected by a panel of judges. No further discussion will be entered into.
- Shortlisted finalists will be announced on Monday 9th October 2023 on YorkMix Radio and YorkMix.com
- Finalists must be resident or have been resident within the YorkMix Radio transmission area during the last 12 months.
- Employees of York Sound Limited, YorkMix Media Limited and those sponsoring awards may not nominate.
