‘Crazy’ cheesecakes are coming to a village near York soon.
Anthony Dunn and his partner Samantha Bithell have taken over the community sports bar The Pavilion in the village of Wilberfoss.
And they have plans for a new opening time, daily cafe, and serving up some crazily creative cheesecakes.
The Pavilion in Wilberfoss will relaunch on Friday 1 December.
Originally from Chester, Anthony and Samantha moved to East Yorkshire in 2010 when they were expecting their first child. The family currently reside in Wilberfoss and have lived there for around 5 years.
They are currently in the process of taking over The Pavilion in Wilberfoss.
“Speaking to the community, one of the things everyone felt the village was missing is somewhere for everyone to go to catch up with friends or just for a change of scenery for home-based workers,” Anthony told YorkMix.
“Another was also for it to be available when the football teams are present at the weekend so the parents and carers in attendance could have a bite to eat and stay warm.”
The reaction to the relaunch of the Pavilion has been ‘extremely positive’ in the community. “We have both been stopped in the street to be congratulated and all expressed how excited they are for the new changes.”
The final menu is still to be confirmed but they will be serving breakfasts, cakes, bakes – and, according to the promotional poster, the ‘most talked about cheesecakes in the area’.
Anthony previously owned a home-based business called The Cheesecake Room, where he made unique custom cheesecakes to suit his customers.
“These were in high demand,” said Anthony. “The crazier the creation the better.”
Anthony had customers across the country, catered for a wedding, and created cheesecakes for events and holidays like Easter, sweet 16ths and gender reveals. Flavours have included Parma violet, cherry brandy with brandy snaps, Neapolitan, and chocolate orange.
Unfortunately Anthony had to close his business in 2021 due to unforeseen circumstances, but is excited to bring his cheesecakes back to his customers again.
“I think those who have tried one will definitely be back to enjoy their favourite dessert.”
The Pavilion will be open from 9am every day of the week, but the details of opening hours are still being finalised.
“We are a sports bar primarily and the community, especially the clubs that we are associated with, are and will always be our focus.
“We are really thankful for the opportunity to be bringing the new changes when we take over in December, and hope they are all embraced by our fellow locals.”
The Pavilion will be relaunching on Friday 1 December at 5pm. The cafe will then be open from Monday 4 December.
