Would you make a good Traitor? Find out in this brand new gaming convention coming to York this summer.
Get ready for a weekend of mystery, deception and strategy in this new ‘social deduction’ gaming convention Demons Wake coming to York.
The immersive event will allow visitors to experience the thrill of hidden role games – can you tell when people are lying? Can you successfully conceal your identity and commit the ultimate betrayal?
Demons Wake will take place from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 August 2025 at York St John University.
The convention is inspired by games like Blood on the Clocktower, Werewolf, Avalon and BBC’s The Traitors.
Star of series one of The Traitors, Ivan Brett, will be one of the special guests for the event. Other guests include YouTuber and Twitch streamer Ben Burns, actor and singer Holly Musgrave, and comedian Ken Cheng.
The event is organised by the same team behind the York Board Games Convention, which was a great success last year.
“We’re so excited to be running this event in York,” said Ryan Willis, lead event organiser.

“The community around social deduction games is so fantastic and vibrant, and it’s growing all the time. People are so welcoming – it’s just going to be loads of fun!”
The new event will be a ‘big step up’ from their previous event and will be the ‘largest social deduction convention ever run in Europe’.
Highlights for Demons Wake will include panels and Q&As with special guests and industry experts, beginner-friendly games, merchandise, costume contest, script writing competitions, trader stalls, board game library, and more.
Tickets for Demons Wake will go on sale on Friday 21 March. Tickets for the full weekend will be £50, with a 10% early bird discount on the first 100 tickets sold.
