The Romans invade York again! More than 50 storm the city centre

Two thousand years after they founded York, the Romans were invading again.
More than 50 Roman legionnaires marched through the city centre on Saturday (June 4) as part of the first Eboracum Roman Festival.
The new Lord Mayor came face to face with history, meeting the soldiers outside the Mansion House.
Later in sunny Museum Gardens there were fighting displays and children’s army drills from members of six Roman Legions, a Roman camp showing domestic Roman life and stalls selling themed goods.
The festival continues and concludes on Sunday. For more information see the Yorkshire Museum website.
