The A19 at Chapel Haddesley, south of Selby, should reopen on or around the 21st June this year and that’s earlier than first thought.
Local County Councillor John McCartney has also told YorkMix that there will be a 40mph speed restriction in place while work on the verges continues.
It was badly damaged during storm Dennis and that led to one of the longest road closures ever seen in North Yorkshire.

Storms Christoph and Storm Darcy also affected the repair schedule but the council says the contractor Balfour Beatty has been able to claw back the lost time they are now on schedule finish a little earlier.
That means the road can reopen a few days ahead what was previously thought.
The A19 is one of the busiest roads in the south of the county and the closure made life difficult for many residents and businesses with long diversions.
Don MacKenzie, Executive Member for Access, at the County Council, told YorkMix Radio that it couldn’t have been sorted any sooner as it was a very complicated operation. Listen to the interview above for more details.
Local MP Nigel Adams said he would like to thank Balfour Beatty and North Yorkshire County Council for the big push to get the road open.
