Ten fantastic pictures by York photographers – as exhibition opens

These amazing pictures are just some of the images now on show at a new exhibition.
They were all taken by members of Bishopthorpe Camera Club. More than 60 of their photographs have gone on show in the foyer and café of York Theatre Royal.
The exhibition nearly didn’t happen, as club chairman Andy Towse explained.

“Two years ago we were putting together an exhibition but with the ‘joys’ of the pandemic coming along things became increasingly problematic, to the point of devastation on cancelling all our plans,” Andy said.
“However we have now managed to get things sorted and we have put together a display of photographs in a mix of genres including landscape, nature, wildlife, architecture, street and creative – plus additional digital projected images.”

“We are really excited to be sharing our photography with wider York audience, as the club has definitely provided a focus, an interest, support and sense of community especially through the last couple of years for our members who live in York and the surrounding area.
“With the onset of Covid in early 2020 we feared our membership would dramatically reduce. However quite the opposite occurred with the opportunity to receive talks from incredibly talented and articulate photographers from across the globe.”
You can see the free exhibition at they York Theatre Royal until Saturday, 22 January
