The peak of the current heatwave is due to hit York on Thursday according to forecasters.
Temperatures could then hit 31°C in the city according to BBC forecasters.
The Met Office is predicting a slightly cooler high of 29°C.
Hot sunny weather is predicted to run through to the weekend.
However, temperatures are not expected to be as extreme as those experienced in July when new national records were set.
Then on Monday (15 August) thundery showers are forecast by the BBC. Temperatures next week will peak at around 20°C.
