A young motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after a bad crash near York.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a the collision on the A19 between Deighton and Crockey Hill at about 1.45pm yesterday (Wednesday, 17 July).
It involved a red Ford Fiesta and a black Piaggio motorcycle. The bike caught fire after the crash.
The motorcyclist, a 17-year-old, received serious injuries. An off-duty officer was one of the first to arrive at the scene, and provided medical care until the emergency services arrived.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he is continuing to receive treatment for his injuries.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene, and re-opened at 4pm.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either vehicle involved prior to it, or may have relevant dash-cam footage, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
