The team behind a popular York attraction have revealed its closing date.
York Motorsports Village, the karting track in Monks Cross, is to run its last race on Saturday, 30 December.
But it is not the end for karting fun. As YorkMix reported last month, Teamworks Karting, has agreed a deal to take over the site.
At one stage, York Motorsports Village was under threat from a 137-apartment block planned for the site.
Now though, those plans have been shelved, allowing the attraction to start a new era under the Teamworks Karting brand. Its first day will be 1 February.
York Motorsports Village has been going for more than 25 years. On its final day – New Year’s Eve – they will be holding a get-together for staff and customers to say goodbye.
YMSV vouchers for next year will be accepted by Teamworks Karting, along with bookings already made for events in 2024.
Today (Monday) the York Motorsports Village issued a statement to say: “YMSV would like to place on record its thanks to its outstanding staff and customers, particularly during the recent period of uncertainty.
“The last day for karting with YMSV will be Saturday 30 December, and on Sunday 31 December the doors will be open from 10am until 3pm and we look forward to previous staff members and customers coming along for a drink and to reminisce so we can say a very big thank you for helping to make YMSV the best karting venue in the UK.
“We are sure that Teamworks Karting will further develop karting in York, and we are pleased that their purchase of the site will ensure that York will continue to offer karting to as wide an audience as possible.”
