The new Lush store in York is now open!
The new Lush York store opened today (Friday) at 52 Coney Street, in what was previously the former Mappin & Webb jewellery shop.
With customers queueing down the length of Coney Street in anticipation for the opening of the relocated cosmetic brand, there was definitely a feeling of excitement in the air.
So much so that the shop opened 20 minutes earlier than its original 12pm opening time, so that eager customers could move out of the freezing temperatures to browse the haven of Lush products inside.
The new Lush store is 100 sqm – making it 35% larger than the previous store, which closed on Wednesday.
The first 100 customers were also gifted a welcome surprise of Lush pampering products to celebrate the expansion.
YorkMix spoke with store manager Sarah Baker to find out more about the new store.
“We’re bigger now, and with that space we are planning on elevating our customer experience in every way that we can,” said Sarah.
Highlights of the store include a beautiful bath bomb wall, and a whole section dedicated to Snow Fairy – one of Lush’s most popular products, with an extended range now available.
The shop includes a new-for-York dedicated party zone, where you can come and celebrate any occasion with family or friends and make your own fresh, handmade products.
There is also a spa and skincare feature in the middle of the store, where customers can experience the pampering products – and get a hand and arm massage too!
“What we’re passionate about is making our customers feel wonderful as soon as they walk through the doors.”
Sarah and her team are “thrilled” by the reaction to the new location.
“We’ve had such a great response to the store,” she said. “Even as we’ve been setting up across the week, we’ve had people peering through the windows and tapping on the door because they’re so excited.
“And this wonderful queue that we’ve experienced this morning as well!
“My whole team and I are just so grateful and so happy to be on York high street, and still on Coney Street.”
Sarah is hoping that customers will experience the “wow factor” when they walk through the doors. “We now have more products in store as well.”
These new products include the ‘archive range’, which is made up of retro Lush products that have been around since the brand was founded, as well as a new firework makeup range.
“We’re still fighting animal testing, and we’re still hoping to leave the world lusher than we found it – and the new style of store encapsulates that.
“All are welcome always at Lush, and we want people to come in and just enjoy the space. Whether you’re a regular customer or new to the brand – come and see us!”
Lush is now open at 52 Coney Street. It is open every day from 9:30am to 6pm (5:30pm on Sundays.)
