YorkMix Radio were broadcasting live today (Wednesday) from one of York’s hidden eatery gems…
Tucked down Stonegate is Plush Cafe – a haven from the busy shopping street that’s just the place for a unique bite to eat.
“It looks quite small from the outside, but once you come in you realise just how big it is,” said Jaydene Halliday, co-owner of Plush Cafe. “It’s a hidden gem.”
Jaydene opened Plush Cafe along with her brother Kyle and sister Keegan at the end of October 2019.
“So just a couple of months before the pandemic hit,” said Jaydene. “We had to try and work out ways to adapt and get through that.
“We’re making our way through and going from strength to strength so hopefully we’ll continue to do so.”
Plush Cafe has got three themed rooms; the neon room which is “dark and atmospheric”, the garden room which has flowers on the walls and swing seats, and the bohemian room which has low tables with cushions on the floor and a “relaxing vibe”.
“We’re trying to create somewhere that people can escape from the rest of the world,” said Jaydene. “In each of the different rooms you can be transported to an entirely different place.
“It’s more about the experience than just getting a coffee or some food.”
Live from the garden room
Plush Cafe are known for their desserts, which include pancakes, waffles, cookie dough, sundaes and freakshakes.
And if you fancy a colourful meal, why not try a rainbow bagel or a pink burger?
“But we also have some really cool normal food too,” added Jaydene.
Victoria Charles from YorkMix Radio was broadcasting her show from Plush Cafe today (Wednesday) – and what a setting to broadcast in! The team at Plush Cafe smashed the Quizzical as well as chatting to Victoria on the radio.
