Tadcaster bridge is closed to traffic as the River Wharfe remains high.
A noticed posted on the Tadcaster Community Action Group Facebook page said at 8.40am this morning (Sunday): “The bridge will close shortly for vehicles, remaining open for pedestrians.
“Bridge Street is currently coping with the river levels rising (no surface water), levels 2.74m.
“River levels will continue to rise until midday. We are expecting further rainfall upstream, this afternoon.”
In York three flood warnings and two flood alerts remain in place today.
Riverside paths, Rowntree Park and St George’s Field car park remain closed, but the rest of the city is open for business.
More heavy rain is expected today (Sunday), before a drier day tomorrow. River Ouse levels are forecast to remain steady rather than rise further.
