As we revealed here first, Taco Bell is to open a restaurant in York.

It was back in early October that we reported how the US food chain was building a restaurant at Monks Cross.

And now this sit down and drive-thru has an opening date all set: Tuesday, December 19.

A spokeswoman for Taco Bell UK said: “It’s official… Taco Bell, pioneer of Mexican-inspired cuisine, is continuing its Live Más march across the UK with the opening of its very first restaurant in York on 19th December.

“And that’s not all, the restaurant will be a drive thru, meaning customers can get their taco fix from the comfort of their cars.”

So now you spice fiends know when to head over for all things Mexican.

The new restaurant is found next to Herbert Todd on Monks Cross Drive, just a few hundred yards away from the McDonald’s restaurant.

It has applied for an alcohol licence to cover its opening hours from 10am to 3am every day.
