‘Extremely dangerous’: Surfboard lands A64 driver in hot water with the police

This vehicle was stopped on the A64 by police who were not happy with the way a surfboard was being carried.

Officers said: “Although we appreciate the ingenuity of the driver in managing to wedge his surfboard into such a small car, it was completely insecure and extremely dangerous to himself and other road users.”

North Yorkshire Police say you must think carefully before transporting large items like this.

Each year they attend numerous collisions involving things that have fallen off vehicles.

Some caused serious damage and injuries to other road users.
