A long-running York restaurant has been named as one of the best in Britain.
Melton’s, on Scarcroft Road, was placed fifth in the UK for fine dining in the Travellers’ Choice Awards by TripAdvisor.
That placed it above some of the most feted restaurants in London.
The Travellers’ Choice Awards showcase people’s favourite destinations, hotels, restaurants, things to do and more, based on the reviews left on Tripadvisor over the previous year.
Melton’s has a 4.8 out of five rating from more than 1,200 reviews.
TripAdvisor said: “Melton’s is a relaxed bistro with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. You’ll notice the care in every dish, with seasonal ingredients coming together to create visually striking plates.
“The wine pairings really complement the food, and the owner’s attention to detail stands out. Try the tasting menu: It’s not only delicious, but a great value.”
Recent comments from diners included: “The tasting menu was superb!” and “This is a very special restaurant. The care taken over every single dish is more than I could put into an entire dinner party.”
The honour comes days after Melton’s was awarded 3 AA Rosettes at the AA Hospitality Awards 2025.
