Wonderful works of art are up for auction this month to raise money for the Lord Mayor of York’s charities.

Launch

According To McGee, Tower Street, York

Sun Nov 13, 6pm

Exhibition

Nov 14-27

Sky Lounge at City Screen, Coney Street

More details

Launching at Tower Street’s According to McGee this Sunday (November 13), the art exhibition will move from Monday to City Screen’s Sky Lounge, running till Sunday, November 27th.

It features work from some of the most well regarded artists of Yorkshire, including Richard Barnes, Richard Moulton, Lesley Birch, Ben Bentley, Patrick Smith, Malcolm Ludvigsen, Jo Walton and Eddie Grant.

According to McGee co-director Greg McGee said:

Firstly, the Lord Mayor of York is a hep cat. Curating an art auction with him is an honour. Secondly, I run a charity myself, so the idea of dovetailing the selling of art for some great causes is second nature to us.

These are great works of art from great local artists, and we’re looking forward to seeing the works snapped up during the bidding process.

Chocolatey treats

Browsers can make a bid on the opening night, or at City Screen right up to the final event on November 27.

“It’s an auction, but a very slow burning one!” said Greg.

Lord Mayor of York Dave Taylor said “I’m indebted to Greg and Ails McGee for putting together an exhibition of collectible works from rising artists, and to those artists themselves for their generosity in supporting the Lord Mayor’s charities.”

All are welcome to attend the launch on Sunday at 6pm at According To McGee.

Says Greg, “The latest chocolatey treats from York Cocoa House await, along with wine, the inimitable company of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, and some live jazz from a white hot trio.”
