An emergency rally to show York’s continued support for war-torn Ukraine will take place this evening (Tuesday, 11 October).
The York Ukrainian Society have organised the event, taking place at 6pm at St Helen’s Square.
It comes after a series of Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities yesterday, including Kyiv, where at least 14 people were killed.
Organisers say: “Approximately 83 rockets and a number of drones were sent into Ukraine targeting large numbers of civilians and civil infrastructure.
“This terrorist act left numerous Ukrainian civilians dead and thousands more without basic human needs such as heating, water and electricity.
“Please join our Ukrainian community here in York to show the world that York stands with Ukraine.”
