Something spooky is starting tonight – as new York theatre company make their chilling comedic debut with Dracula: The Bloody Truth.
Neon Crypt Productions, the brainchild of Jamie and Laura McKeller of Deathly Dark Tours, are taking the tale of the Transylvanian legend to new heights in their own adaptation of Dracula from physical comedy troupe La Navet Bete.
Dracula: The Bloody Truth is at Theatre@41, Monkgate, from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 10 May.

The show, which begins performances tonight, stars YorkMix‘s Laura Castle in the title role of Dracula, with Jamie and Laura as Van Helsing and Mina, and Michael Cornell as Jonathan Harker.
Jamie was inspired to perform Dracula as their first production after seeing a version of it at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough last year.
“We’re telling the epic story of Dracula, but with four actors and not exactly the biggest budget,” said Jamie, who also directs. “But everyone will be surprised just how visual the show is!
“The set looks great, and the sound and light design is huge for a studio show. I feel that we’ve stuffed a massive theatre show into a smaller space.
“It’s stuffed with slapstick comedy, proper belly laughs. We absolutely guarantee a hilarious night!”
And this is just the beginning for Neon Crypt Productions, as they have four dates over the next two years already booked in at Theatre@41, and have planned for up to the end of 2026.
These future productions will include a mix of self-written shows and established productions – such as The Wetwang Hauntings, a comedy-horror fictitious podcast, written by Jamie and two of his Deathly Dark co-stars, and the iconic musical Little Shop of Horrors.
Dracula opens at Theatre@41 tonight (Tuesday) – and it’s not too late to book your seats. Tickets start from £13 and are available via the theatre website.
Don’t miss out on this scarily silly show with plenty of slapstick fun – and support a brand new theatre company for York.
