Dare you go into York city centre tonight?
York Museum Gardens is being transformed for the first-ever Ghosts After Dark. And it promises to be proper spooky…
Brought to the city by York BID and York Museums Trust, this immersive experience explores York’s supernatural side
Over four nights, until Sunday 10 November, Ghosts After Dark invites you to journey through York Museum Gardens on a self-guided adventure featuring 46 ghostly sculptures.
Each sculpture is illuminated and accompanied by soundscapes and atmospheric effects, creating a one-of-a-kind experience.
And Ghosts After Dark includes a brand-new ghost sculpture: a medieval pig, paying homage to York’s historic Finkle Street, once known as “Mucky Pig Lane.” Here, pigs were led to Thursday Market in St Sampson’s Square.
In addition to the ghostly installations, Ghosts After Dark brings together six of York’s most renowned storytellers to present chilling tales, from classic legends to exclusive, never-before-heard stories.
Featured storytellers include:
- Mad Alice of the Bloody Tour of York
- Lady Brigante of the Polite Tourist
- The Wild Man of the Woods
- The York Dungeon’s Dick Turpin
- The York Dungeon’s Guy Fawkes
- Dr Dorian Deathly of the Deathly Dark Tours
Just a handful of tickets and times remain for Ghosts After Dark. Priced at £7.50 for adults and just £1 for under-16s, tickets are available on the York Museums Trust website.
