A water slide the length of six London buses is heading for York this summer.
Plans are afoot to bring the 100-metre long slide to York University in June – and people of all ages can give it a go.
Slide The Uni was hatched by the University of York Boat Club as a fabulous fundraiser, and a brilliant day out.

The idea emerged from a huge disappointment. Someone put on Facebook that a giant water slide was coming to York – but that turned out to be a fake.
“The fake event last year gave me the idea! I was, along with everyone else looking froward to it,” said organiser Will Fuller.
“So in response we have worked hard to get it sorted for this year.
“It is fully booked and supported by the student union and university.”
First one for York
It will be the first time a giant water slide has come to York.
Bristol hosted the first one in 2014 when artist Luke Jerram installed a 90m water slide on Park Street. Almost 100,000 people came out to watch, and 360 lucky ticket-holders sped down the foam.
Will said the slide will be supplied by a company which held similar events in Derby and Sunderland “where tickets sold out on both occasion in less than two hours”.
He added:
Students and non students are welcome – the more the merrier.
The day is going to be a great party, will loads of music, food and sliding. We will have live music and lots of extra activities to excite on the day.
Tickets on sale soon

So the big question – how do you get tickets? The best way is to keep an eye on the official Facebook event page.
It states:
There will be three waves:
9:00-12:00
12:00-16:00
16:00-20:00
Your ticket will grant you unlimited access to the slide for the duration of your chosen wave.
Will added: “This event has been a year in the planning.
“Those on the other side of the pond get all the summer fun with their giant slides so it is about time that York gets a shot!”
Money raised will help the University of York buy new boats “to help the take the club to the next level next season at Henley”.
