Have you ever dreamed of living in a windmill? If you have a spare million it could become a reality…
Situated in the village of Tollerton, ten miles north of York, a former windmill has gone up for sale – and its boasting some spectacular views.
The Tollerton Mill is currently up for sale with Savills, and could be yours for £1,500,000.
Tollerton Mill is a former windmill dating from 1815. The grain mill was still in service in 1942, when it was believed to be the ‘last working windmill in Yorkshire’ before metal from its cap was taken to support the war effort.
It was converted into a residence by a local architect in the 70s, and has gone through a significant renovation and refurbishment by its current owners.
It has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, a large south facing garden, and many of its original features.
Two additional structures have been added on to the mill by the current owners, which include a sitting room and dining room which leads out to a terrace area, with the opposite side containing a snug, bedroom with en suite shower, office, WC and a utility room.
The estate agent’s details says that “of particular note is the exceptional kitchen, with curved walls, original beams and components of the mill being retained.”
The windmill has a total of five floors, with the top floor offering impressive 360 degree views that stretch across the North Yorkshire landscape towards the York Minster and The White Horse at Kilburn.
The property agent, Ed Stoyle, said that “Tollerton Mill is certainly a unique opportunity that does not come along very often, a truly special property.”
