The North Pole may be some distance away – but York has now got its very own igloo village!
Soon you can enjoy an alfresco dining experience like no other, after the Lamb & Lion Inn unveiled their garden igloos.
Their brilliant beer garden, built onto the city walls next to Bootham Bar, has been transformed – and it looks fantastic.

From 15 November guests can relax and soak up the festive atmosphere in a Winter Wonderland Igloo, complete with faux sheepskin rugs, lanterns and blankets.
The igloos can seat up to six people, and you won’t have to wrap up too warm as they also include a heater.
And perhaps the best part – the stunning view. Lamb & Lion, on High Petergate, overlooks York Minster.
There’s plenty of tasty dishes to tantalise your tastebuds on the menu too. How about a roasted rump of lamb or confit fillet of salmon?
Perfectly paired with a glass of Prosecco (or two), of course.
The Churchill Hotel on Bootham also have a similar igloo experience. An ingenious idea that gained popularity amidst Covid restrictions last year, it would be great to see them become a festive staple.
The Winter Wonderland Igloos will be available to book from 15 November through to New Year.
The two-hour dining experience costs £20 Monday to Thursday and £30 Friday to Sunday. New Year’s Eve is £50 per two-hour experience. Book by calling 01904 654112.
Time to get those festive celebrations started!
