Spark York will temporarily close next week – as it prepares for its winter makeover.
The unique venue on Piccadilly will be closed from Monday 23 to Thursday 26 September as it prepares for the colder months.
The space will be transformed into a cosy haven with the help of Leeds-based designer Sachelle Clarke, complete with a newly installed canvas rooftop.

Spark will then reopen on Friday 27 September – and to mark the occasion they’re throwing a huge Oktoberfest celebration.
Oktoberfest at Spark will take place over the last weekend of the month, from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September.
The celebration will include silent discos, beer tasting sessions, games room, special food offerings, and more.
Matthew Kirk, general manager at Spark, said: “We’re excited to host this Oktoberfest party as a heartfelt thank you to our community for their ongoing support.
“The event not only marks the transition into the upcoming winter season but also offers a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together for a weekend filled with Bavarian fun and community spirit.”
On Friday evening there will be two silent discos, with special performances by Drag Queen DJ Carrie Fish and DJ Darrell Hooper.
On Saturday and Sunday, Spark will host beer tasting sessions featuring four expertly curated beer tasters, where guests will have the opportunity to learn about brewing techniques with fellow beer enthusiasts. Beer tasting tickets are available here.
There will also be a games room with ping-pong and board games, free face-painting and personalised caricature art. Baby Boy’s Burgers, one of Spark’s street food vendors, will be offering a Oktoberfest-inspired menu – with Bavarian treats like currywurst and bratwurst.
Visitors can also enjoy a complimentary drink over the weekend – simply reserve in advance via Eventbrite.
