Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash at an A64 junction labelled dangerous by many road users.
We reported on Friday that a collision had closed the A64 in both directions.
Today (Monday) North Yorkshire Police put out an appeal about the incident.
A force spokesperson said: “Did you witness a serious crash on the A64 on Friday?
“We’re requesting anyone who witnessed the incident on Friday evening gets in touch if they haven’t already spoken to us.
“It happened at around 5.15pm at Barton Hill near the Castle Howard junction.”

The A64 Barton Hill junction
The junction means drivers turning right onto the A64 from the Slingsby road have to cross over two lanes of fast moving traffic to wait in the central refuge.
And westbound A64 traffic turning right towards Castle Howard has to do the same.
There have been at least three serious crashes here in recent years, plus a number of minor collisions.
People on Facebook registered their concerns. “Since its upgrade, nobody seems to know who has rights of why coming off/onto this junction. So many accidents,” said one.
Another said: “Such a dangerous road. Wish it would be upgraded and made safer.”
And a third added: “I hate that road. The cut across is do dangerous.”
