With Halloween approaching and many people trying to decide what they want to do, we decided to take a look for some of the best events in York for adults.
Here are six top things to do for a spookily fun Halloween in 2024.
1. Secret Rave
Undisclosed Location, 31 October, 10pm-3am, £3-£10
Like a bit of mystery with your Halloween? Well the location of this rave will only be revealed to those who purchase a ticket on the day itself.
Boasting “insane” DJs, hundreds of people in attendance and Halloween décor, this event is shaping up to be the biggest event in York this year and surely a once-a-year thing for those attending, all for a very reasonable price.
2. Indie Halloween
Ziggy’s, Micklegate, 29 October, 11pm-3am, £3-£5
A fan of indie music? A fan of Halloween? Good – now imagine them combined and that’s what this Tuesday night Halloween party has to offer and for a price of just £5 maximum.
With a full decorated venue, costumes welcome and the opportunity to suggest songs for the playlist (by messaging @yorkindie on socials) it looks to be a superb night featuring some of indies biggest names such as Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Sam Fender and many more.
The only downside to this event is its popularity and people are recommended to be there before half past eleven in order to actually be able to get entry.
3. Night Market
York Castle Museum, 26 October, 7pm-11pm, free
A night of seasonal fun with shopping and activities the market features a wide selection of Halloween themed stalls and products, all based upon the scariest season of them all. With fun for all the family what more could you need?
4. Open Decks
Polymath, 31 October 8pm-12am, free
Are you a DJ ready to haunt the decks? Then look no further than the free open decks night going on at Polymath on Grape Lane.
Why not have a go at spinning some tunes and help yourself to make it a party night for everyone – and see what reception you get from the crowd? You need to bring you own USB with downloaded songs and your own headphones.
5. Halloween Haunted Mansion
Ziggy’s, 31 October 10.30pm-3.30am, £4-£6
Fancy dress is “strongly encouraged” at this party at Ziggy’s, with a prize awarded to the best costume.
You’ll be greeted by a free shot on entry, beginning a night of chilled fun on Halloween. The downsides of this event is that it is only available to under 25s and students.
6. Bottomless Brunch
Revolution, 26 October 12pm-6pm, £70-£140 + fees
Are you interested in having a ‘fang-tastic’”’ time? Are you looking for a boozy Saturday before Halloween? Then look no further than Revolution’s bottomless brunch. With tipsy treats and Halloween inspired cocktails Revs have set up a fantastic event for all to indulge in.
With food in between the drinks will be flowing and all bottomless for two hours at one of the designated time spots of 12pm or 4pm. Costumes are also encouraged to allow the fun to flow and to make the event entertaining and to keep the Halloween theme going.
The only downside to this event is the fact that it costs so much, costing £73.50 for two people, £110.25 for three and £147.00 for four people (or £36.75 per person).
