Six people had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a York flat.
Fire crews from York and Acomb were called to the blaze of a first floor property off Heworth Green at 5.46am this morning (Thursday, 16 April).
Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze with two hosereels.
The open-plan living area was damaged by the fire, heat and smoke.
The rest of the flat was smoke-logged, and the communal corridor and neighbouring properties were also hit by smoke damage.
Fire crew used thermal imaging cameras and a fan to ventilate the flat.
Six people were treated at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
