A grande dame and a great star is coming to town.

Dame Joan Collins will bring her one-woman show to York on September 19.

The actor best known for her outrageously enjoyable portrayal of vengeful Alexis Carrington in hit US show Dynasty hits the Grand Opera House with Joan Collins Unscripted.

The show sees Dame Joan reveal some of the exciting stories and secrets from her long career.

It also includes a question and answer session with the chance to ask questions about her life and career.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday (May 2) at 10am.

Joan Collins, 84, is best known for her role in Dynasty. In 1981 Collins was offered a role in the second season of the then-struggling new soap opera playing Alexis Carrington, the beautiful and scheming ex-wife of tycoon Blake Carrington (John Forsythe).

Her performance is generally credited as one factor in the fledgling show’s subsequent rise in the Nielsen ratings to a hit rivalling Dallas.

Dame Joan made her stage debut aged nine in the Henrik Ibsen play A Doll’s House.

After training as an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London before signed up with the Rank Organisation and appearing in various British films.

In the 1970s she was known for starring in two films based on best-selling novels by her younger sister Jackie: The Stud (1978) and its sequel The Bitch (1979).

Married five times, Dame Joan has three grandchildren. In 2015, Joan was made a dame for services to charity.

Since the late 1970s, Dame Joan has written several books (including beauty and autobiographical books).

In 1988, she published her first novel, Prime Time, and she has continued to publish various kinds of writing.
