This was the sign greeting shoppers in York today (Saturday).
Utopia Womenswear on Spurriergate has launched a closing down sale.
The brand launched in 2012, and has shops in Altrincham, Stratford, Nuneaton and Hereford as well as York.
It began selling fashion aimed at middle-aged women, and “now caters for women of all ages. Our shops sell the latest fashion at mid-range prices and we specialise in French, Italian and English fashion,” its website says.
The York branch opened in 2019. More recently it opened a pop-up on Church Street in the former Game shop which was recently taken over by the Cello by Collectables giftware brand.
As well as the Closing Down sale sign, the Utopia shop has a poster in the window saying they are hiring for part-time positions. Potential staff are urged to drop a CV off in store or send one in by email.
We have contacted managers to find out more and will update when we hear back.
