A former division of the Shepherd construction empire has been wound up.
Shepherd Homes Ltd, based in Huntington, York, has appointed liquidators.
The house builder, dating back to 1945, used to be part of Shepherd Group, one of the largest family-owned, private companies in the UK building industry.
In 2015 it was sold to London construction company Galliford Try.
This move followed a review of Shepherd Group’s ‘non-core’ businesses. Galliford Try added Shepherd Homes and its 60 staff to its house building business, Linden Homes.
At the time, Shepherd Group chairman David Williams said: “This was not an easy decision for the group board, particularly given the recent strong performance of Shepherd Homes, but this transaction represents an exciting opportunity for both the business and its employees for the long term.
“Galliford Try, through Linden Homes, is exceptionally well placed to build on Shepherd Homes’ considerable progress and achievements.””
