It was absolutely rammed on the ring road this evening.
A flock of sheep brought traffic to a standstill on the A1237 near Strensall roundabout.
The animals had escaped after the lorry transporting them overturned, breaking open the rear hatch.
Huntington firefighters were called out at 4.37pm to the incident, and were helping police to shepherd the animals to safety.
At 5.11pm fire station manager Tony Walker tweeted that “Sheep now herded to a nearby field by farmer and specialist sheep whisperer firefighters.
“Police now on scene. Delays will continue for sometime.
“Thankfully we don’t appear to have any injuries.”
