Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault in York have arrested a man.
The 45-year-old York man remains in custody at this time.
It follows the attack on a woman in the Nunnery Lane area at 11.45pm on Wednesday (8 May).
Police cordoned off a grassed area off Nunnery Lane for a number of hours as they investigated the crime.
Officers and PCSOs from York’s Neighbourhood Policing Team have been conducting patrols in the Nunnery Lane area today to reassure residents, and are happy to speak to anyone with issues or concerns.
The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers and partner agencies.
