Three people are in hospital after a crash involving two cars and a truck on the A59 near York..
The collision happened at 5.30am this morning (Monday) at Upper Poppleton.
It involved a Nissan Micra, a BMW and an HGV.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said they took two people to York Hospital and one person to Leeds General Infirmary.
The road was closed for several hours between Poppleton and Hessay, causing significant delays. It has since reopened.
Acomb and Huntington Fire Station Manager Tony Walker Tweeted at 6.13am about the accident.
He said York, Tadcaster and Acomb fire crews went to the scene of a “serious road traffic collision just north of York.”
