Several people were hurt in a serious crash in York – which also sparked a major search.
It happened between Crockey Hill and Deighton shortly after 6pm on Thursday. Traffic was at a standstill while emergency services attended.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from York responded to a multiple vehicle road traffic collision upon request from police to help search for a potential missing motorcyclist using the thermal imaging camera.

“Ambulance crews were administering treatment to other casualties whilst fire crews and police searched the surrounding area.
“Witnesses later confirmed the motorcyclist was not involved in the road traffic collision and the incident was left in the hands of ambulance and police.”
A driver reported sitting in stationary traffic for nearly an hour. The road has now been cleared.
