A crash closed York Hospital off to traffic this afternoon (Monday).
Police said a car and a bicycle collided.
They taped off an area around the zebra crossing that links Wigginton Road with the hospital. Vehicles coming in were being turned away, although pedestrians could still get in.
The hospital car park was closed for a time too. The road and car park are now open again.
A red car was seen parked within the sealed off area, with police markings on its tyres. There were also markings on the road as officers investigate what happened.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are attending a collision just off Wigginton Road, involving a car and a bicycle.
“Please avoid the area if possible, as there will be significant traffic disruption.
“Thank you for your patience while emergency services work at the scene.”
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said on X at 4.56pm: “The multi-storey car park and road are now open as normal. Thank you for your patience.”
The AA is reporting heavy traffic on Wigginton Road both ways.
More as we get it.
