A serious crash closed the A1M in North Yorkshire for nine hours.
The motorway was shut between Ripon (J50) and Catterick (J52) in both directions.
The collision was reported at around 11.15pm on Wednesday (13 December). At 8.07am, National Highways said the A1M had fully reopened.
Witnesses said the air ambulance landed on the motorway.
Earlier, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
“Motorists and asked to follow the diversions put in place and follow @HighwaysYORKS for the latest information.
“We will provide more information when we are able.”
Highways Yorkshire said: “The A1M is closed southbound between J52 (Catterick, Richmond) and J51 (Northallerton, Leeming Bar, Bedale) and northbound between J50 (Ripon) and J51 for a police led incident.”
