A serious crash in the early hours closed a road in York for several hours today (Thursday).
A car and a motorbike collided on Burdyke Avenue. Emergency services were called at 2.10am.
York and Acomb fire crews went to the incident. They said no one was trapped in the car, but four adults and one young child were given first aid at the scene before the arrival of paramedics.
The road was closed in both directions, from Water Lane to Crichton Avenue.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Motorists are urged to avoid the area until further notice and to follow local diversions.”
The road was reopened by 1.55pm.
Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the collision investigation are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
