Updated: Road reopened after serious collision

Emergency services went to a serious collision west of York on Wednesday evening.

Police said that the A59 in the Green Hammerton area was blocked by the incident.

They said: “The road is currently closed and diversions are in force.

“There is likely to be some disruption for some time. Please avoid the area whilst emergency services respond.”

The road has now reopened.
