Emergency services were called to a serious accident during rush hour in York today (Monday).
The crash was on the roundabout connecting the A1079 at Grimston Bar and the A64. It partially blocked the A64.
Witnesses say it involved a car and a tractor towing a trailer. Nicole Freeman said on Twitter that it was a “very bad accident with a car tipped on its side”.
On Twitter Station Manager Bob Hoskins said that Acomb, Huntington and Tadcaster fire crews were involved.
Three people were in the car. Two were able to get out of the car unaided. Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate one passenger.
All three were taken to hospital for treatment. None of them had serious injuries.
Long queues of standing traffic built up at the scene. Police asked motorists to avoid the area while they dealt with the accident.
At 6.25pm, Minster FM news editor David Dunning tweeted that traffic officers were clearing the scene.
And the road was fully reopened by 6.48pm.
