Search for York jewel theft suspect stepped up after Crimewatch appeal
Police are stepping up their campaign to trace this man after he was featured on BBC’s Crimewatch.
He is Michael Walker, wanted by North Yorkshire detectives in connection with the theft of a valuable diamond ring from a jewellers in High Ousegate, York, in February 2016.
The photograph was featured in the Crimewatch episode broadcast on June 20. As a result police received information that he may be in Blackpool.
But Walker, 30, is still at large.
He has a Liverpudlian accent, a scar on the right side of his head and the name “Kelly Hunter” tattooed inside his right wrist.
He travels extensively by train to Devon, Cornwall, Derby, Preston and North Yorkshire.
DC Lesley Raffan, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who sees Michael Walker, or knows where he is, to get in touch with North Yorkshire Police immediately.”
