The Grand Opera House will be hosting An Evening Of Burlesque on Saturday evening (November 30). “Britain’s biggest burlesque extravaganza” is arriving direct from the West End, with a cast poured into colourful costumes.
It’s been described as an “all-new riotous romp into the bizarre world of burlesque and cutting-edge variety”. Words like sashaying, bombshells, fantasy, wickedly witty, slickest and delightfully choreographed are also in the mix.
With dances representing Arabian Nights, fan dancing fantasies, foxy Forties WAF sirens, and bubblegum blowing baseball babes this should prove to be an interesting evening.
They’re encouraging the audience to dress up for the experience, and I will be rising to the challenge – as long as I haven’t hasn’t eaten too many chocolate digestives and my costume still fits. Will photographic evidence be provided? That remains to be seen.
